Pattern design: Torneå 1621, 400 years anniversary pattern for City of Tornio

In 2020, I had the honor to design the Torneå 1621 city pattern to celebrate 400th anniversary of the City of Tornio.

The designed pattern showcases a blend of geometric and organic shapes, a detailed representation of the city’s rich landscape inspired by the history and urban culture. It includes elements such as the colors of the four seasons, the flow of the Tornio River, and the many stories that have shaped the community over four centuries

The design- and product developing process was both an artistic effort and based on a deep cultural exploration into Tornio’s past, involving thorough research into historical records, local symbols, and
architectural details. Through this pattern, I aimed to capture the essence of Tornio, offering both locals and visitors a visual story that celebrates the unique spirit of this remarkable border town.
